What a weekend.
I know I said on Friday we didn’t really have plans. But you know us. ;)
Friday morning the boys and I headed to the member preview of Dinosaur Train at The Magic House.
Dare I say it’s my new favorite exhibit? Ok I always say that. But it really was fun and very interactive. I’m hoping we can go back soon when it’s a bit less busy!
While we were playing BTR was dropping off his most recent BTR Woodworks order at Side Project.
Friday night we all headed downtown Belleville for the Chili Cook-Off.
We sampled ALL the chili and had so much fun running into all kinds of friends!
Saturday morning we grabbed coffee and donuts at the grocery store and did a quick lumber run.
BTR had to finish working on a project (see below) so while Ezra napped I took Jude to Eckert’s and the grocery store to pick up some things!
When the boys fell asleep Saturday night BTR and I ate dinner and watched a movie. Then Ellie fell asleep under Jude’s stuffed Ellie on the couch and I thought it was the cutest thing ever.
Sunday morning we woke up and headed to STL again, this time to the Zoo!
The carousel is free the first hour the zoo is open so we headed there first. And took the second worst family selfie ever. For the worst ever family selfie see my Instagram. :)
Then we bought our train tickets! Would you believe it if I said this was the FIRST time Jude ever rode the zoo train? Yeah I know I’m terrible.
Both boys absolutely LOVED it and I’m pretty sure we are going to ask for a zoo membership for Christmas just so we can use all our anywhere passes on train rides.
After seeing a few more animals we packed it up and headed to lunch a local place called Mac’s Local Eats. It’s actually inside the Tamm Avenue Bar.
While our burgers and fries were delicious, I’ll be honest and say their beer prices were a little high. We might be back for the food but we’ll probably choose to grab drinks somewhere else.
After naps at home we headed to the backyard! Jude and E are obsessed with hitting the ball off the tee and I’m pretty sure we’re going to have two little ball players. Which makes me all sorts of happy!
BTR cleaned up a lot of our garden and we picked our one and only watermelon that grew this year!
I didn’t have high expectations because we grew one a few years ago and it tasted terrible. But this one was actually perfect!
We just hung out the rest of the evening and watched some TV when the boys went to bed.
Monday was full of lots of errands and working. BTR finished another project, some display shelves for a company called Barrel Beard and Tattoo. Jeremy makes these really amazing barrel aged oils for hair and skin. He had someone else making displays for him but that person couldn’t make them anymore so he asked Brandon! BTR took his barrels and cut them in half to make these shelving units. I love how they look!
I attempted a start on Jude’s Halloween costume. And taping that paper together is about as far as I got. I probably need to get that together asap.
I was quickly distracted from costume making when my friend Erin shared this AMAZING Halloween decor idea for outside. So I made a quick design to cut out on the laser. That ended up taking me 2.5 hours to cut because somehow the driver for the laser wasn’t set up right and I had to fix it. And in the end all I had to do to fix it was press “reset”. MAJOR #facepalm
But I’m kind of excited for this project! I have to grab some spray paint today!
Such a fun and busy weekend friends! I’m totally not going to be ready for the week and getting back into our routine.
Happy Tuesday Friends!!
