Picking up from yesterday…

After getting engaged and me losing my dream job, BTR and I decided it was probably time for us to move back to the STL area. We got an apartment in Lafayette Square. The idea was that BTR would get a teaching job in the STL public school system and I would find an accounting job downtown. Well life is pretty funny. I had NO luck finding a job and BTR was offered a job back in Belleville. He commuted to Belleville for a year while I planned our wedding as my new “job” since I hadn’t found a real one.
After we moved into our newly built house and got married, I finally found a job at a local company. I worked there for about 6 months before realizing it wasn’t a great fit. It was a nice company, but I wasn’t very happy working there and needed to find something else.

That’s when I decided to start my own stationery and design business. I have NO background or training in design, but it was something I loved doing. And I still love it! I named it All You Need Is Paper (do you sense a music theme on our lives yet?), but I’ve expanded from wedding and party invitations to include custom stationery and gift products.
Then another opportunity came along that was just too good to pass up. A work acquaintance of BTR had an online craft supply business and she was looking to sell it. She started it when her children were little and she was at home with them, but her children are older and she was too busy to keep up with it. So I purchased Memory Miser and completely overhauled the branding. We set up our unfinished basement into a warehouse and I can ship everything from there. FedEx delivers me the products and our postman picks up my shipments that go to customers. It couldn’t be a better fit for me being able to stay at home with Jude and still have a job. I’m so lucky to have my accounting background and still run a creative business.
It’s a far cry from working a big accounting firm, but for me everything worked out better than I could have imagined. Plus I get to wear sweatpants to work if I want! ;) So if you ever need some party invitations or craft supplies, I’m your go-to-person!
