SURPRISE! Baby Rotz #3 is on the way!

Baby Rotz #3 is cooking and we’re so excited!
How about I answer some of those burning questions?
How far along are you?
As of today I am 11 weeks and 5 days!

Which means you’re due?
Official due date is March 24, 2021! If this one is a week early (like Jude was) it will be here on St. Patrick’s Day! And it better not be like Ezra and be 2 days late.

Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?
Not yet, but we will soon! Usually we find out at the anatomy scan around 20 weeks. This is the first time we’ve opted for prenatal testing (NIPT) and we should be getting the results soon. We aren’t planning a big gender reveal since I’ll find out over the phone with the nurse, but we are planning something to surprise the boys!

How are you feeling?
Much better! I felt great in the beginning (I tested very, very early) and starting at exactly 7 weeks things went downhill quickly. It wasn’t so much morning sickness as it was all-day feeling like junk. I pretty much lived on poptarts because it was the only food that sounded remotely appetizing. I also was extremely tired and was asleep in bed by 9 every night. This past week has been so great and I think I’ll be in the clear in another week or so!

You said you knew early?
I’m a little crazy with tracking and I tested at would have been 4 “weeks” because I knew something was up. Leading to….

How did you tell Brandon?
So the first test I took was 2 days before our 10th wedding anniversary! I tested again the next two days and they were all positive, so I knew it was time to tell him! We had dinner plans that evening and he talked about grabbing a drink before our reservations. Cue me panicking! We arrived at our first destination and I gave him an ornament I made on the laser. He was definitely surprised! When we arrived at our dinner reservations at Olive + Oak our friend Charlie (the world’s best bartender) surprised us with a Champagne toast to celebrate our anniversary, and I almost cried because I couldn’t drink it. So I asked for a mocktail and he delivered!

What do the boys think?
We *just* told them on Friday! I didn’t want to tell them until we were ready to announce because we all know they can’t keep a secret! BTR and I created a little scavenger hunt around the house with clues and little letters from the letter board. They letters spelled “baby” and then we gave them two baby bottles filled with candy. Jude understood that the end of the hunt ended with baby, but he didn’t exactly understand what we were telling them. We said “you’re going to be big brothers” and then they got it! Overall they are very excited, even though Jude said “it’s going to be SO much work being a big brother to two kids.”

Was this planned?
Yes! We’ve talked for a few years about whether or not to have one more baby and now that we’re finally getting a full night sleep we thought this was the perfect time! #sarcasm
So here we are!! We are all so excited for what’s to come and can’t wait for Baby Rotz #3!
