Road trip time! We have one last hurrah planned before school starts again and Brandon is back at work and Jude starts preschool! Also, please don’t bring preschool up to me, I’m in complete denial. :) But moving on, talk about a perfect send off to summer, a road trip to Kansas City to see our beloved Cardinals play ball against the Royals!
It will be such an easy and fun drive, STL and KC are connected by interstate 70 and just 240 miles apart. And you know how big of Cardinals fans we are in this house!
We are proud to be teaming up with Phillips 66 for our trip for the I-70 Series. It is a fun series of interleague play between the two cities. The Cardinals are playing two games in KC, then they come home and the Royals will play two in STL.
Fun fact: the year BTR and I were born (1985) the Cardinals and Royals played each other in the World Series! I have a “lucky” t-shirt that I wore during the entire post season in 2011 that was actually BTR’s mom’s shirt from 1985! And we all know how awesome 2011 was in St. Louis!
We are so excited to be taking the boys to their first away game at a new stadium. You could definitely say it’s a bucket list for us to visit all of the stadiums! Phillips 66 is the perfect partner for our trip, they have a longstanding partnership with both the Royals and the Cardinals and have been committed to midwestern communities since 1927.
With over 20 stations along the way, I am sure we will probably hit at least half of them refilling on snacks that were thrown all over the car, a potty training toddler, and caffeine refills for the adults. I plan on using the Phillips 66 app on my phone to find the nearest station, because we definitely don’t want to run out of gas, not that that almost happened on our last trip. Ahem, BTR. Seriously, make sure to follow my Instagram stories next week for all the fun, you never know what might happen!
What makes this partnership even more fun is the history. Before my dad owned his current businesses, he owned a Phillips 66 gas station right here in my home town in the 1970s! My mom found these amazing photos (actual printed photos from the 70s!) and brought them over for me. And how cool is that yard stick ruler? I remember using it in high school for making presentations. We have always known we can trust the gas we get at Phillips 66 and their commitment to safety and quality.
Of course, we have a ton of fun planned on the way to Kansas City and once we are in KC! Right now we plan to make a stop in St. Charles, Columbia, Warm Springs Ranch, and the Truman Presidential Library. We are still finalizing our plans for in KC after the game. We want to make sure to hit up lots of fun neighborhoods (maybe a wall or two?), get cold drinks, good eats, and a few fun new adventures for the boys!
So hit me with your must stops along the way and once we are in KC. Ready, set… GO!
And don’t forget… GO CARDS!
