New Year, New Me.
New year, new me, new Liz. Okay not a totally new Liz, but you get the idea.
I mean it’s January, it’s time for a fresh start! And I totally need one. I feel like this is the year for me. In 2013 I got pregnant, 2014 I had a baby, 2015 I got pregnant again, and 2016 I had a baby again. I NEED 2017 to be about me. And here’s how I’m going to do it! I guess you could call these my New Year’s Resolutions, but whatever you call them, they are for me!
1. Go to bed on time.
You guys I am TERRIBLE about what time I go to bed. Every night BTR falls asleep and I’m still either scrolling on my phone or watching TV. This year I’m setting two alarms on my new Apple Watch. Which by the way was the BEST Christmas gift ever, BTR I heart you. And back to this… the first alarm is to start getting ready for bed (wash my face, brush my teeth, put on PJs) and the second alarm is to turn out my lights. No TV. No phone. Bedtime.
2. Wake Up Early
Along with going to bed too late, I am a terrible morning person. Once I’m up I’m usually fine, but I don’t like getting up, I like my sleep. I would LOVE to start getting up before the boys to get a few things done around the house. Hopefully, if I’m going to bed on time it will be easier to get up!
3. Eat A Healthy Breakfast
I don’t want to talk about what I’ve been eating for breakfast the past month. Waffles, cinnamon rolls, biscuits, toaster pastries. Basically, all the really (not) good for you stuff. So when I’m waking up (before the boys) I’m going to take a moment to make myself a healthy breakfast!
I thought I would share with you all my new breakfast routine! I just discovered Post® Great Grains® cereals and I love them! They are so delicious and good for you, they have fiber to help you feel full till lunch and are made with whole grains and nutrients.
You only need 3 ingredients to make my new breakfast.
–Post® Great Grains® Cereal (my favorite was the Cranberry Almond Crunch)
-Greek Yogurt
-Honey
Now I used plain Greek yogurt, but you could always use your favorite regular or flavored yogurt. All you have to do is layer all the ingredients in a mason jar (because who doesn’t love a mason jar) and then your breakfast is ready! The fun part is I could make this the night before and store it in the fridge. Or I could make extras and BTR could take one to work! No mess when traveling and mason jars are pretty easy to clean. And don’t forget, you can get a coupon for the next time you buy Post® Great Grains®!
4. Exercise For 30 Minutes A Day
Remember those workout videos I bought at the end of summer? Yeah, I’ve turned them on twice. That’s pretty pathetic. When the weather was nice I was taking neighborhood walks with the boys, but that’s not an option anymore. So now that I’m waking up early and eating a healthy breakfast (before the boys are up) I also plan on exercising in the basement! And if by chance I don’t workout before the boys are up, I want to do it during nap time or after bedtime.
My new favorite thing is the activity tracker on the Apple Watch and seeing what my friends are up to! I totally want to fill those activity rings every day! Let me know if you have an Apple Watch so we can be friends!
5. Slow Down And Be Present
I’ve really got to start slowing down. Sometimes I feel like we are just go go go. We have a lot of fun with all we do, but sometimes it’s nice to not do anything. I’m trying to schedule less and make more quiet time with the boys. Because sometimes sitting at the kitchen table with a coloring book is the best thing for everyone.
Okay, that’s my list and I’m sticking to it! And I expect all of you to hold me accountable! Maybe I’ll do a check-in at the end of the month? Someone remind me!
