This morning I took the boys to Krispy Kreme for breakfast. BTR had some work to finish in the garage and I thought it would be a fun and easy outing for just the three of us.
And I couldn’t have been more wrong. Without going into too many details, I ended up in complete tears and shaking after a confrontation with another customer who chewed me out in front of the boys. It wasn’t pretty.
And while this could have turned into a nightmare of a situation, all I can remember is how two families sitting at tables behind me jumped into action and offered to help me with the boys and our donuts. Families who could have just sat there and minded their own business, but instead, they chose kindness and sympathy towards me and the boys and invited us to sit with them.
And not just those families showed kindness, but also the Krispy Kreme employees. They quickly alerted their manager who was the absolute nicest and sweetest lady in the entire world.
I really just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible and was going to take all our donuts home. But when I stepped outside I saw two empty patio tables and decided I didn’t want this one moment to ruin my morning with my boys.
We sat there and ate our donuts and counted cars going by and turned it all around. Then, of course, the amazing manager at Krispy Kreme came back out and gave the boys hats and balloons. So she’s basically their new favorite person ever.
I hope this is a reminder to everyone that kindness matters. You don’t know what someone else could be going through, but kindness always always always wins.
Happy Sunday Friends.
