We have all been there, getting ready to leave the house for an event or day out can feel like a decathlon. So here is how to get out of the house in 37 easy steps with two toddlers
Time to get dressed. Luckily you laid out their clothes the night before.
Scratch that, they don’t want to wear the matching clothes you picked.
Argue with threenager over Paw Patrol and Lightning McQueen underwear.
Give up and put him in Halloween underwear.
Put socks on both boys. Feel like you survived a pro-wrestling match.
Wet Jude’s hair and give it a quick brush to hide the bed head.
In the meantime Ezra took off his socks and who knows where they are. Mismatched socks it is.
Pack snacks. Pack at least 7 options, because they won’t like the first 6 you give them.
Pack the diaper bag with extra diapers. Fill the water bottles.
Put on shoes. Survived a second pro-wrestling match.
Line both boys up at the door. Jude has to go potty. Backtrack to the bathroom.
Ok, NOW we’re ready to go and maybe even on time!
Walk out the door and snap a quick selfie on the front porch with the boys to post to IG to pretend that you aren’t a hot mess today.
Strap Ezra into his car seat. Start strapping Jude into his car seat. WAIT.
He doesn’t have little Addie. And he doesn’t know where she is.
Jude refuses to leave the house without her. She’s a stuffed black lab just like our real Addie and it’s his favorite thing in the entire world. His security blanket.
She has been through potty training with us, visited multiple states, and even dressed up with Jude as a taco for Halloween. We cannot leave her behind.
Go check your bed, the couch, Ezra’s room? Nope, she’s NOWHERETOBEFOUND.
Closing in on a full toddler meltdown. Also, definitely not on time anymore.
Wait! Together we find little Addie! This is where Tile is a true lifesaver. Never heard of Tile? It’s the world’s best selling Bluetooth tracker. It is super small and attaches to little Addie’s collar. You can pretty much put a Tile on anything (keys, wallet, stuffed animal, hot sauce, you name it) so you can find it quickly!
Ok time to pull in the big guns. I can easily find Addie right from my Apple Watch or iPhone. Quick, find Addie! Open the app. Walk around the house. Wait for the circle to turn green. Okay push the Find button and listen for her ringing!
Ok, I hear her Tile ringing. Guess where she is? Ezra tucked her into Ellie’s dog bed with a blanket for a little nap. Yeah, I definitely would not have looked there.
And finally we are out the door and if I don’t hit any red lights we might be on time thanks to Tile finding little Addie so quickly! Together we found what mattered most to Jude to have the best day ever.
