I’m so excited to share another Day In The Life post with you all! Fair warning, tons of reading and pictures. And you probably won’t find me that interesting so feel free to skip ahead! :) And big thanks to Julia for reminding me to do these and then compiling them all!
Wednesday, October 5, 2016
Brandon – 31 years old
Liz – 30 years old
Jude – 2 years and 5 months
Ezra – 5 months and 2 weeks
Ellie – 9 years old
Addie – 6 years old (her birthday was the day before!)
5:15 am – Ezra wakes up. BTR is already up (I think) and changes his diaper and brings him back to me to nurse. Ezra eats and then I wrap him up and put him in the DockATot in bed next to me. We both go back to sleep. BTR gets up and gets ready to go to work. And probably does some Etsy work before he goes to work. Not totally sure since I was sleeping. And I don’t feel bad about that either. :)
6:35 am – My alarm goes off. I lay in bed and think about what we have to do today. Oh yeah, it’s Wednesday, we have gymnastics which means I need to actually get up and get ready on time today! But yet I still don’t actually get up.
7:15 am – Ezra fusses again so I nurse him again. I read theSkimm from my phone. Ezra finishes eating and passes out on me. I snuggle with him a bit then carefully wrap him back up and put him back in the dock.
7:45 am – Head to the kitchen to make oatmeal for Jude (so it has time to cool). Pour his milk.
8:01 am – Head to Jude’s room. He’s awake but still in bed.
He’s in a good mood and making silly faces. I change his diaper and we head to the family room to eat.
I make my oatmeal and join him at his little table to eat with him. It’s our morning ritual and I love it. Fredbird and big puppy also join us for breakfast.
8:17 am – I brew a cup of coffee to go. Ezra is still sleeping so I need to go wake up him to feed him one more time before we leave the house.
8:26 am – Feed Ezra in the family room and he’s grabbing my face while nursing. Jude runs around like crazy. E finishes eating and I change his diaper. Change my shirt.
Load up Ezra in his car seat and the stroller. Put shoes on Jude and grab the diaper bag and head out the door. Lock the front door. In the car and leaving at 8:41. We probably going to be late. Again.
Snap a selfie in the car because why not!
On the way to gymnastics, I hear Ezra poop. And if you can hear it you know it’s a good one. :| In the parking lot at the gym I change his diaper before getting Jude out. Get Jude out and we all head inside.
I decide to leave Ezra in his car seat instead of wearing him during gymnastics. He’s generally happy in there and then I can do more with Jude since it’s a parent-tot class. We do ALL the things and have lots of fun during gymnastics. And to no one’s surprise, Jude does not go near the instructors the entire time. Some day folks. Some day.
It’s the last class of this session so they give out suckers. Jude is a fan of suckers, despite that snark face.
After gymnastics, we drive through McDonald’s so I can get a large iced tea. It’s my treat for surviving.
10:42 am – Arrive at home and unload. Remember the dirty diaper in the trunk. Decide to hang out on the porch and play for a bit.
Ezra gets fussy so we head inside so he can eat. Give Jude the iPad while E eats.
Put Ezra in the mamaroo and let Jude start it (his favorite)
11:55 am – Make lunch for me and Jude. Chicken nuggets and a cheese stick for him and leftover chili for me.
Ezra hangs out in his mamaroo while Jude and I eat. E gets fussy so I drag the mamaroo closer to the table and he chills out. I’m basically in survival mode at this point.
Jude finishes eating and we play a bit more. When I eventually get him down for a nap my plan is to feed Ezra and then get him to nap and then work on pictures for my sponsored blog post that has to go live on Friday. But plans are never a good idea with a toddler and a baby.
12:55 pm – Take Jude to his room to see if he wants to nap. Or at least pretend to nap.
Find big puppy and Fredbird in the family room. Take them to Jude. Jude walks out of his room. I walk him back to his bed and shut the door.
Nurse Ezra and put him in his swing in his room (yes we have two swings) in hopes that he will nap.
Head to the kitchen and grab the Starbucks box and the camera and take it all to the front porch to get some pictures. Better light there than the direct sun on the deck right now. As I’m taking pictures I hear Ezra cry (his window is right next to me).
Head back inside and nurse Ezra again. He is whiney and I can tell he is tired. While I’m sitting in the chair Jude opens his door. I tell him to go back to his bed and he does. Ezra falls asleep nursing and I carefully transfer him back to the swing. Hoping this sleep session lasts longer!
Head back to the porch and finish those pictures and then start taking photos in the kitchen. Finish most of my photos in the kitchen for the post in the kitchen and some more on the front porch. Also, drink the coffee I’m photographing, it’s really good!
2:23 pm – I hear Ezra fussing so I go in to get him and bring him into the kitchen with me so I can finish my last few shots.
Check the monitor and Jude is definitely not sleeping. Figure quiet time is better than nothing. Go in to get him and ask him if he wants to watch a show in mama’s bed and the rule is you can’t get out of mama’s bed. He enthusiastically says yes.
We all snuggle into the big bed. Ezra gets fussy again so I nurse him.
4:30 pm – BTR gets home from work! I get ready to leave in a bit and he takes the boys on the back patio.
5:24 pm – I grab a snack of energy bites and get in the car. Run to Target to quickly return things. Hit my step goal on the way in!
5:45 pm – Arrive at the salon for my MUCH needed haircut and color.
I feel bad not being home for dinner, stories, and bedtime, but I’m also pretty excited to be pampered. BTR’s mom came over to play with the boys for a bit and she took Ezra on a walk while BTR was getting Jude’s bath ready. But apparently Jude then opened the front door and Ellie escaped. Thankfully our neighbor caught her. And we are working on a new lock system for our front door.
And I’m super thankful for a husband that can handle dinner, bath, stories, and bedtime on his own. BTR is a rockstar husband and dad.
7:44 pm – Arrive home from haircut. Boys are both asleep. Or at least they are in bed pretending to sleep. Same thing.
I get on my big computer to sort some pictures and check emails.
Since BTR gave Ezra a frozen milk bottle while I was gone I need to pump.
After pumping I clean bottles and pump parts.
8:35 pm – Realize I haven’t eaten dinner and I’m starving. Make a cheese roll up.
After eating I work on the computer and go through the pictures I took earlier that day. Make some Mother’s Milk tea to drink while on the computer.
10:07 pm – Wash my face, brush my teeth, take out my contacts, fill my diffuser a lavender and add lavender.
Go into Jude’s room to give him a kiss. I do this every night before I go to bed. It’s my favorite.
Ezra is awake. Change his diaper and outfit. Bring him into our room to nurse him before going to bed. Check my Fitbit steps for the day. Not terrible for me.
Ezra finishes eating and I wrap him up and put him in his sleeper. Which is still on BTR’s side of the bed. #bestdadandhusbandEVER
Ellie jumps on the bed to snuggle. She desperately needs a haircut.
Turn out the lights and turn on the TV. Set my alarms for the next day. Take one last screen shot before plugging my phone in. No idea what time I fall asleep.
DONE! Thanks again for following along friends, these really are my favorite posts to look back on! Make sure to follow Julia to see her roundup of everyone’s posts this time! I’ll be sure to share the link when it’s live.
