Welcome to my next addition of a day in the life! I’m so excited to be participating again, I didn’t do the April one because I was a little preoccupied with a newborn! :) This is a fun one because it’s Ezra’s first day in the life! Fair warning, this is a long one with lots of text and pictures and I don’t blame you one bit for skipping right past it! :)

Brandon – 31 years old
Liz – 30 years old
Jude – 2 years and 2 months
Ezra – 11.5 weeks
Ellie – 9 years old
Addie – 5 years old
5:58 am – Ezra wakes up, BTR changes his diaper and then I nurse him and Ezra and I both go back to bed. BTR gets ready and goes to gym.
BTR gets back from gym and I hear him start working in the garage. My alarm goes off but I’m still tired and lay in bed and stare at the ceiling.
7:25 am – Ezra wakes up and nurses again. He likes to eat a lot in the morning. And the afternoon. And the evening. But he sleeps through the night so I’ll take it!
7:40 am – Ezra falls asleep so I wrap him back up and put him in sleeper and jump in the shower.
8:00 am – Get out of shower and both boys are still sleeping. Snap a picture of Ellie on my bed, her 9th birthday was yesterday!
Since boys are sleeping I decide to pump since I haven’t in days and would like some fresh milk for bottles for Ezra so I don’t have to thaw any frozen milk. Pump for 10 minutes and get 4 ounces, I’ll take it!
BTR comes in from the garage and shows me what he made, it’s a display box to hold the wooden teethers we are engraving to sell at a local shop. Just need to laser a sign to go on it.
8:25 am – I toast a bagel and pour milk for breakfast. Read TheSkimm while eating and then check the weather. It’s supposed to rain a lot later. Guess we can’t go to the park. Should have gone to The Magic House but didn’t plan ahead and I only like going right when they open. Put Jude’s oatmeal in the microwave to cook.
8:50 am – Go into Jude’s room to wake him up. Still obsessed with the bed BTR made, really need to do a whole blog post about his big boy room.
BTR and Jude sit on the couch to watch Sesame Street and eat breakfast. Ezra is laying on his play mat on the floor.
The sky looks crazy and like it could storm any second.
8:58 am – Make coffee and open up the computer. Download SC Stockshop freebie images. Open up WordPress to start writing Eckert’s blackberry post. I picked and collages my images last night so it just needs text and I hope to get it published today.
Jude helps me feed Addie but gets mad when I make him put the scoop away. Ezra starts fussing so I trade and let BTR deal with Jude and I take Ezra to his room to change him and nurse.
9:15 am – Sit in rocker and nurse Ezra. Hoping that even though I just pumped he will be able to nurse. He seems happy and eats. I open up Pages on my phone and work on my notes for this post. Takes longer than I think but Ezra is content nursing so I just go with it. After typing notes I open up Snapchat. It’s my new favorite form of social media. You can follow me at ellieandaddie or using my snapcode below!
9:31 am – Ezra is half sleeping half nursing. BTR and Jude are playing in the family room. I know he doesn’t go back to school for another month, but in already dreading Brandon not being home during the days!
9:50 am – Change Ezra’s diaper, wrap him up, set him in the DockATot.
Run to the basement to ship eBay orders to go out in the mail today.
Come back upstairs and find my coffee that I haven’t taken a drink of yet. Jude is a mess and says he wants to go for a walk and is sitting in the stroller, but it’s raining.
10:10 am – Get out train tracks to play with Jude. I build tracks and he colors.
Sit on the couch with coffee and Jude runs to give me a kiss. Except he must have chewed on the blue crayon. Start laughing and send him to BTR to clean up.
10:30 am – Decide we want to go to Edwardsville and buy some coffee at Goshen. BTR takes Jude on a mini walk in the stroller with Addie since it stopped raining and I head to the bathroom to do my hair and makeup. They get back and I finish getting ready.
10:48 am – Wake Ezra up to nurse before we go. I always like to feed him right before we go anywhere so he lasts longer.
10:53 am – Finish nursing Ezra. Change his diaper and strap him in the car seat. Grab the 10 million bags of things we probably won’t need and load the car.
11:05 am – Pull out of the driveway. Look down and realize I took my toe nail polish off the other day and still haven’t repainted them. So gross. (P.S. I still haven’t painted them 2 days later)
Call Goshen and realize they don’t actually have a storefront, but there is a bakery that sells their stuff, continue on to Edwardsville!
11:50 am – Arrive at 222 Artisan Bakery and pick out some Goshen coffee.
See a cute diner we’ve heard of called Sgt. Pepper’s Cafe (duh, we love The Beatles) and decide to eat lunch. They are famous for their horseshoes so BTR orders a steak burger horseshoe and I order a Ruben pony shoe.
30 seconds before our food arrives I realize Ezra has pooped. And then I hear him poop again. And if you can hear it you know it’s not going to be pretty. Food arrives so we decide to just eat and then I’ll deal with Ezra since he seems happy and not bothered by the dirty diaper. Finishing eating and I take Ezra to the car to change his diaper.
Get to the car and set up the trunk to change Ezra and realize it’s no longer in the diaper and now it’s all over his outfit. Oh my goodness. So. Much. Poop. It’s everywhere. Then I hear a group of people headed towards us and see my friend’s husband. He must have been at lunch at a different restaurant and they are headed to their car, which is parked next to me. I really don’t want to have to say hi since I’m literally touching baby poop so I don’t look up and continue cleaning up Ezra and pray he doesn’t recognize me. They get in the car and leave and thankfully don’t see me! BTR and Jude meet me at the car and I can’t stop laughing because of how it’s all going down. Finally get Ezra clean and back into his car seat and we head to airplane park to let Jude run and I’ll feed Ezra in the car.
1:06 pm – Arrive at the park. Looks like it’s going to rain so Jude and BTR run to play and I quickly feed Ezra on the car. It starts to rain so we pack up and head home.
1:50 pm – Decide to run into Bed Bath and Beyond on our way home to buy a coffee grinder. Our friends Anne and Alex sent us an AeroPress and it’s supposed to arrive today and that’s why we bought the Goshen coffee beans. I keep a handful of BBB coupons in my car glovebox because you just never know when you’ll need them!
2:09 pm – Arrive home and immediately put Jude down for a nap. Get everything put away and decide to give Ezra his bath now. I was going to do it tonight but after that poop explosion, I’d rather do it now.
2:25 pm – Bring the bath stuff into the kitchen and bathe him.
Clean diaper, lotioned, and dressed, I nurse him hoping he’ll fall asleep and I can go write my blog post about Eckert’s. Wrap him and put him in DockATot.
2:57 pm – Make myself a Starbucks Via Strawberry Lemonade and fill a bucket with water and OxiClean to soak Ezra’s gross outfit from earlier. It’s my favorite pair of Hanna Andersson pjs and I’m praying it comes out clean! Ezra is fussy so BTR grabs him and lays with him on the couch.
3:01 pm – Finally sit down to write my blog post about blackberry picking at Eckert’s. Turn on my summer playlist on Spotify.
Writing, writing, linking, writing. Check the monitor and Jude is still asleep. BTR and Ezra are on the couch. I keep blogging.
4:40 pm – Finish and publish my blog post the exact second Ezra wakes up and starts screaming. I grab him and take him to nurse in his room and BTR gets Jude who is awake from his nap.
5:02 pm – Ezra finishes nursing. I snuggle him in rocker and also check emails on my phone. Also check snapchat. Because #priorities.
BTR decides to go to his moms to clean her pool because Jude has his first swim lesson tomorrow! Since his mom is there he takes Jude so she can play with him. I take Ezra and his DockATot to my bed and turn on Real Housewives of OC #guiltypleasure.
5:30 pm – Continue to watch tv because we have to clear out our DVR because we are changing cable companies next week! Also, I legit never take naps or watch TV during the day and right now it feels glorious.
BTR and Jude get home and we decide to do Jude’s dinner while taking a walk. He doesn’t like sitting and eating all the time and we’re hoping being distracted on a walk will make him actually eat.
7:03 pm – Load up and head out the door for a walk. I also grab a #walktailsforthewin (<— best hashtag ever) for myself. Peach Katy straight from the keg!
Attempt a photo. Please notice half of Jude’s meal sitting in the foot rest in the next photo.
Then he decided he wanted out and to walk. Because he’s two and he’s a mess.
And then he wanted to touch the fire hydrant. And that went on for a while.
Arrive back at home and see that my hydrangea tree is almost ready to bloom! It always blooms right around our wedding anniversary!
BTR puts Jude in his pajamas and reads him a story in his bed. I love it so much
I head outside to the #rotzgarden and pick some tomatoes and basil for my dinner. Make a quick Caprese salad with fresh mozzarella BTR picked up at Restaurant Depot. So freakin’ delicious!
7:53 pm – BTR and I eat dinner and watch some TV. As soon as we finish eating I pop on the computer to make some design options for BTR to send to someone who needs glassware.
Then we head to the basement to attempt to laser metal. You can’t actual laser directly on metal because the laser beam would just bounce off. You have to spray it with a marking compound. We had bought a kind you mix but couldn’t get it to work right so we decided to splurge and buy the spray paint can of marking compound. One can costs like $60 so I’m a little nervous because it’s an expensive mess up. But if we can figure it out it’s a whole new market for us. We laser BTR onto Brandon’s coffee mug and it WORKS! So freaking excited.
9:21 pm – BTR decides he wants to try and make coffee with the AeroPress. I put Ezra on his play mat and go wash my face.
BTR gets everything ready and we attempt AeroPress coffee. It has a learning curve but it really isn’t that hard. I’m still pro-Keurig because it’s easy and super fast. But I’m sure we will make coffee like this from time to time!
9:40 pm – We sit on the couch to drink our coffee and watch the season finale of Silicon Valley and I nurse Ezra. This show is seriously funny.
I check my FitBit steps for the day. I clearly need to get off my butt and start moving more. Also I do not understand how it tracks my sleep at all.
Turn the tv off and head to the bedroom. BTR changes Ezra’s diaper and I sneak into Jude’s room to take his picture. Because I’m totally that mom. Ezra gets wrapped up in his sleeper next to BTR (yes he sleeps on BTR’s side because he is the best. husband. ever.). Ellie jumps on our bed to snuggle and Addie falls asleep on the floor next to the bed.
I turn the tv on and watch an episode of The Big Bang Theory. I turn out the lights and plug in my phone and take one final screen shot. It’s 10:39 pm.
AND DONE! I’ll be shocked if anyone actually made it this far. Honestly, these posts are really just for me to look back on! But thanks if you did read this far, you’re the best!
