Hi friends!!! Welcome to the newest Day In The Life post! It was a fun one to put together! Thanks to Julia for reminding me to do it, I can’t wait to read everyone else’s days!
Wednesday, April 19, 2017
Brandon – 32 years old
Liz – 31 years old
Jude – 3 years and 12 days
Ezra – 1 year and 3 days
Ellie – 9 years old
Addie – 6 years old
6:26 am – Why am I awake? What is going on? Oh it’s day in the life day! Take a screenshot and close my eyes.
6:30 am – First alarm. Ezra cries. BTR makes him a bottle and he goes back down for a bit. Jude cries so BTR opens his door and turns the bathroom light on. Need to get him a night light for his room. Check monitor.
7:00 am – Lay in bed. BTR gets up to shower. I get up and get Ezra out of his crib since he’s totally awake. Try to snuggle in my bed with him. Nope, he wants to play.
7:20 am – Get up and get dressed and make our bed.
Jude is awake, so much for the tot clock today. Normally he stays in there till it turns green at 8 am. BTR goes in to get him.
7:30 am – Change diaper genie. Open blinds in both boys rooms. Pick clothes out for them. We are going to the park with friends today!
Go to kitchen. BTR is emptying the dishwasher. I go to wash my face and put in contacts.
BTR needs to leave. Take boys to E’s room to wave goodbye through the window.
7:40 am – Jude goes to the couch to watch George and Ezra plays, so I run to the bathroom to put on makeup and do my hair. Ezra finds me.
7:50 am – Go back to kitchen and make breakfast. Eat with boys.
8:30 am – Clean up breakfast. Clean up Ezra.
Change my clothes. Go outside to check mail because I can’t remember if I got it yesterday. Walk back in and notice a rock in my tire. Nope it’s a screw. Text BTR to discuss tire and driving today. He says it should be fine.
Pour some local honey on a spoon to eat, I’ll do anything at this point to stop my allergies.
8:45 am – Change the boy’s clothes and attempt to brush Jude’s hair. He has some pretty epic bed head every day.
Pack drinks and snacks and what seems like half the house to go to the park, because I’m an overpacker. Make myself a cold brew coffee to drink in the car.
The boys are wrestling, it’s adorable.
Get everyone out the door and into the car. Really need to switch Ezra into the convertible car seat, I hate carrying this one still! Takes roughly 7 hours to load car and strap everyone in.
9:22 am – Leave house. BTR told me to run by the car place since its on the way to the park to see what he says about my tire. I pull up and the guy comes outside and I show him the screw and ask when I should bring it back and does he need to order a tire, because clearly I know nothing about cars or tires. He says “oh no, hold on, I can fix that in five minutes AND you can leave the kids in the car with it running.” He jacks the car up, takes off the tire, pulls out the screw and plugs it, and then puts the tire back on. In literally five minutes. I wanted to hug him. And then when I tried to give him my credit card he said no it was like a $5 repair. Then I really wanted to hug him! I plan on delivering donuts to him next week because he literally made my day!
9:38 am – Back in the car and driving to the park. Arrive at the park and see our friends!
I decided to take the stroller so I could hold all our stuff and then contain E if he got tired. We had so much fun with friends and Jude was a total big boy climbing up ladders and going down slides on his own!
11 am – Get the boys packed up and head to the car. No tears from anyone! I usually have Jude climb into the car and his carseat and then shut the door while I load E into his seat and put the stroller and bags into the car. Jude attempts to buckle himself in and he’s hilarious. Don’t worry I fixed it.
11:12 am – Start driving home and pray no one falls asleep.
11:24 am – Arrive home and Ezra is asleep. Shoot me.
Unload everything and everyone into the house. Quickly make Ezra a bottle and give Jude the iPad.
Change E’s diaper and rock him with his bottle. Hoping that 3 minute snooze didn’t mess up his nap.
11:50 am – Leave Ezra’s room and I think he’s asleep.
Put everything away and start lunch for me and Jude. I’m totally lazy today and am making a frozen meal and Jude is getting a PB&J.
12 pm – Have lunch with Jude at the kitchen table.
Check the monitor. Ezra is definitely not sleeping.
I go back in his room to get the pacifier from the floor and lay him down and wrap his arms. I think he’ll sleep this time. Go back to eating. Check monitor. Success, he’s asleep!
Jude is basically the slowest eater ever so I finish my lunch and start washing dishes and bottles. While talking to Jude and reminding him to take bites of his lunch. Takes actually f-o-r-e-v-e-r.
Jude finally finishes eating and starts playing with his Hot Wheels Garage. I get on my big computer in the kitchen and check emails and other blog things.
1:17 pm – Ezra is awake! not a very long nap but it’ll do.
Get Ezra up and change him. Remember about the toy I forgot for Easter for the boys! It’s a tunnel for their ball pit in the basement, but I thought it would be fun to play with upstairs for a while! Give it to Jude and him and Ezra play like crazy.
Texting with BTR, he went to the plant store on lunch and said we should go get tomatoes today because they don’t have a ton! Sounds like a good plan. Play with the boys a bit more.
Remember I need to drink my apple cider. Mix it with water and drink it. I don’t actually hate the taste of it. Take a selfie. I think it’s the only picture I’ve taken of me today?
2:00 pm – Put Ezra in the highchair to feed him some puffs and a pouch. Clean Ezra up and then play some more.
2:45 pm – Get the boys ready to meet BTR at the plant store!
2:56 pm – Start driving to Effinger’s.
We get there a little early so I wait in the car for BTR. Turn around and Jude is totally passed out and snoring. And still holding his wagon. Two car naps in one day? I should play the lottery with that luck.
3:35 pm – BTR arrives and I wake Jude up. He’s not angry so that’s a win! Walk around and get some plants for the garden. Take my annual picture of the boys in one of the greenhouses. Can’t wait to compare it to past years!!
We buy some zucchini, peppers, and more strawberries. Don’t buy tomatoes (which is why we went) because he says they are getting more on Friday so BTR can go after work to get them.
Jude pulls his wagon around the nursery and it’s so adorable.
4:04 pm – Load the boys back up and head home.
Get home and BTR plays with the boys while I hop on my computer. I start typing up this post so it won’t be so daunting later! The plan is to put E down for an early bedtime and then I’ll take Jude to Aldi with me while BTR mows the grass.
5:02 pm – Take stroller out of the car and load Jude in to go to Aldi. Feels like we’ve been in the car a lot today.
5:15 pm – Load Jude into shopping cart and get everything we need.
5:34 pm – Load the car with groceries and head home. They are changing the lanes on the road by our house so traffic takes forever.
5:50 pm – Arrive at home and put groceries away. BTR is mowing the grass.
Get out the new Usborne wipe-clean book I got Jude for Easter to play with him. He loves it and actually does pretty good
6:27 pm – Clean the corn on the cob and roll it in aluminum foil so BTR can cook it with some burgers on the smoker. Probably going to be a late bedtime for Jude.
BTR finishes mowing and starts up the smoker for burgers. Jude mows the grass.
7:00 pm – We plant the new plants we just bought in the #rotzgarden. We are legit almost out of open squares. So we might be considering building another box this summer. Because we are kind of crazy like that.
Jude helps us dig and plant. I love getting him involved in the garden!
Finish planting and I pull out the hose to water the garden and all the flowers in the cottage garden. Tell BTR to take a picture of me because I don’t have any and I want people to know I exist in this post. :)
Take pictures of all the gardens. Love the new landscaping around our trees! And totally worth paying someone else to do it!
7:40 pm – We all eat dinner outside. Jude sits at his new picnic table.
8:00 pm – BTR takes a shower and I throw Jude in there because he’s covered in dirt. Get out his new bath towel (aden + anais I found at TJ Maxx!) and his HA dinosaur pajamas.
8:15 pm – BTR puts Jude in bed after Jude gives me a good night kiss.
8:17 pm – I get in the shower and take my sweet, sweet time.
Get out of the shower and put on pjs. Go check on Jude. He’s almost asleep. He has his stars on.
BTR is pouring the new Side Project beer we got the other day for us to drink. I jump on the computer and enter some Pampers Points.
I join BTR in the family room, he has the Blues game on, they are in the playoffs! I know zero things about hockey and annoy him with basic questions.
BTR says we can watch a show so we turn on Designated Survivor. Pretty good episode.
10:00 pm – BTR makes Ezra a bottle and feeds it to him after changing his diaper. Good night E!
Fill the diffuser in our room with lemon, peppermint, and lavender oils, hoping to kick these allergies.
10:31 pm – Check the activity on my Apple Watch before taking it off to charge. Pretty solid day minus the no exercise part.
10:32 pm – Set my alarms for the next day.
Plug my phone in and lights out. BTR is already snoring. Turn on an episode of NCIS and fall asleep.
DONE! Thanks for following along friends! Make sure to check out Julia’s roundupJulia’s roundup coming soon to read everyone else’s posts! I’ll share the link when it’s live!
