BTR and I are always looking for new and fun date night ideas. Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE dinner and drinks, but sometimes it’s fun to mix things up! So we were pretty excited to try a cooking class at Schnucks for our anniversary this year!

It was so much fun for us and a little nostalgic because almost 10 years ago when we were registering for wedding gifts we won a cooking class at Schnucks! We went to the class a few months before our actual wedding and loved it. We still use some of the recipes from that class, our favorite was the Grilled Brussel Sprouts that are marinated in Budweiser! ;)

Our experience this time did not disappoint! Their teaching kitchen is in Des Peres and they offer so many different types of classes. Once a month Schnucks partners with Feast Magazine for a cooking class and this class was all about Mexican food. We learned how to make everything from street tacos three ways, to pineapple guacamole, and even fried churros for dessert! Click here for the corn recipe from our class!)

As much fun as the class is, it is just as informative. Gay was our teacher and she has been with the Schnucks Cooking School since its start. She is so knowledgeable and taught us all so many useful techniques we can use every day! Things like the proper way to hold a knife and how to cut a bell pepper to have the least amount of waste. I can’t wait to show off this trick!

When we started the class we were greeted with sangria and wine (don’t have to ask me twice) and then it was time to tour the kitchen and pick a job! BTR and I picked the cucumber pineapple guacamole.

Everyone in the class had a different job and I loved how hands-on it was! Everyone works together and while it’s fun to cook and eat, it’s just as much fun to meet new people! There were a lot of cocktail cheers!

Everything we made and tasted was delicious, and we brought home print outs of all the recipes so we can make them again. We’ve already used the pickling onions recipe a few times for taco night. We can’t wait to take another cooking class at Schnucks. It makes for a really fun date night, or grab a group of friends and go! They offer all types of classes so there’s something for everyone. Bonus points, you can grab your groceries after class, the Des Peres Schnucks has everything and is gorgeous!
