I haven’t talked a ton about working for Anheuser-Busch in college, but I always tell everyone being a tour guide was the best job ever. And it really was. I made a ton of friends, I learned all about beer (and totally annoyed my friends giving them the spiel), and it led me to an internship and eventual job out of college.
We were invited by Anheuser-Busch to attend the Brewery Lights, but this is a free event for anyone! All opinions and love of Clydesdales are my own.
The tour center has changed extensively since I worked there, and definitely for the better! It literally just used to be tours and a gift shop but now they have a few bars, dining, and more! So when we were invited to attend the opening night of the Brewery Lights there was no way I was passing that up!
I can honestly say this is a MUST DO in Saint Louis during the holidays!
Instead of a tour with a tour guide, Pestalozzi Street is open for guests to walk up and down on their own. Everyone 21 and up gets a wristband to get a free beer along the street and then there are a million things to do while you stroll!
Our first stop was the stables to get a picture with a Clydesdale!
No, none of us are looking at our camera, but I still love it because I’m obsessed with Clydesdales. Obsessed. Maybe not as obsessed as my mom. But still…
The entire brewery is lit up and it is just absolutely gorgeous.
This year they added an ice rink for ice skating! You can rent skates or you can eat kettle corn and watch people skate. We opted for kettle corn. They also have a little market with local vendors.
After we watched the trucks fill up with spent grain (sorry, the tour guide in me is totally coming out!) we stopped and BTR snapped what might be one of my most favorite photos of me and Jude to date.
Once we finished walking up and down the street, we headed into the Biergarten to grab some food. You can buy a token and get a variety of things. We opted for pretzels (duh) and chicken tenders.
After eating, we grabbed our s’mores kit and found an open fire pit. Jude helped roast the marshmallow and then we shared a bite. He was a big fan!
After a quick visit to the gift shop (so many memories of folding shirts and breaking down boxes in receiving!) we headed home with full bellies and great memories.
I’m pretty sure visiting the Brewery Lights is going to become an annual tradition for our family. Heck, we may even head back again this year it was so much fun!
This year (2018) The Brewery Lights at the Anheuser-Busch St. Louis Brewery are open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday from 5-10 PM. It is a family friendly event and entry is free to all guests, but there are a variety of extra things you can purchase! There are several special packages and a la carte options available to guests including a sampling wristband for guests 21 and older to enjoy a complimentary 16oz. beer sample along the tour route, and food will be available for purchase.
