Oh Eckert’s, you never disappoint! We had a fun filled weekend that included lots of apples!

Early Saturday morning we packed up the car (and half the house because, #kids) and headed out to Eckert’s for some apple picking! It was probably the most crowded I had ever seen the place! That’s why I love going as early as possible, avoid the lines and potential toddler meltdowns. Who I am kidding, there will always be toddler meltdowns.
As usual, the tractor ride was probably Jude’s favorite part of the whole day and he is still talking about it days later. I have a feeling we will be back VERY soon just to ride the tractor! Also, ignore Jude’s snark face above, toddlers don’t photograph well… :)
We were able to pick Jonathon and Gala apples (check the crop update to see what’s available before you head there) and they were both delicious! I love that you can pretty much eat as much as you want in the fields while picking (and you don’t have to pay for what you eat! #hinthint). And you guys will not believe it, but Jude FINALLY ate something we picked! After refusing to try strawberries, blackberries, and peaches, I think we found a winner with the apples! And because I couldn’t pick just one, here are nine photos of Jude eating said apples. I know I’m terrible! :)
Oh hey, Ezra was there too! I’m wondering if he can set a record for being the youngest picker of all fruits at Eckert’s this year?
I love this one of us walking down the row. Jude’s new thing is to hold my hand when we walk and I pretty much die of happiness everytime he asks. Also, you might spy another blogger snapping photos of her kids in the background (hi Sara!).
Of course, Jude loves reaching to the top of the trees to get some apples with a little help from BTR!
I actually called and made a reservation for lunch at the restaurant when we pulled in the parking lot that morning and they asked for my phone number and added me right into the NoWait app queue so we were able to pretty much sit down and eat as soon as we came back from the fields! I highly recommend using the NoWait app when grabbing food on a busy day, it makes it so much easier!
But first, we had to stop at the tractor on the way to the restaurant.
Sara sent me these pictures of Ezra and I pretty much died from the cuteness. I only have one wish in life, that Sara will follow me everywhere and photograph my kids. Or at least teach me how to actually use my camera. She also snapped one of Mim “petting” Ezra’s toes and it is the sweetest thing ever.
After a delicious and uneventful lunch (which is a wonderful thing with that many children) we headed over to the carnival area for some pony rides and goat petting. But wait! First we had to play on another tractor.
Jude enjoyed the pony ride, again ignore that snark face, he’s also still talking about how “Jude ride horse!” every day since Saturday.
Luckily these goats are in a fenced area and nowhere near as aggressive as the Grant’s Farm goats, much more our speed!
There are lots of carnival rides and other fun things to do, or you can just run around and attempt to take cute photos of a toddler who refuses to look at the camera. Totally your call though! :)
Thanks again to Eckert’s for having us out! We also can’t wait to check out the Millstadt Fun Farm soon! If you are local you should definitely head out to Eckert’s and enjoy Applefest, there is just so much to do! Make sure to check out the crop updates on their website to confirm picking dates and times.
