First off I want to say THANK YOU to all of you who commented on my pregnancy update post. You sure know how to make a girl feel loved! Also don’t forget to enter the PinkBlush giveaway on that post, and I found out you can use the gift certificate in the maternity OR the regular shop, so now you all have no excuse to enter! Now onto today’s post!
I realize it’s already Thursday, but I really wanted to remember this past weekend because it was such a good one! Friday Jude and I went to story time at the library and then came home and did our regular thing. That afternoon before BTR came home we whipped up this amazing red velvet cookie cake that I had seen Desiree post about! I slacked and used store bought icing though.
Jude actually helped me in the kitchen with it, he was adorable and confirmed the fact that BTR needs to build a kitchen helper stand asap! I was excited to start my birthday cake tradition for Brandon again!
As soon as Brandon got home from school headed to the Woodworking Show! We go every year to see all the tools and stock up on a few staples for the shop.
We came home and ate dinner and I was so excited because BTR had brought me home a chocolate covered strawberry from the Farmer’s Market in Belleville! They seriously make the BEST ones ever.
Saturday we woke up bright and early and it was Brandon’s 31st birthday! This year was definitely different than last year, but we still had a fun day!
We headed to STL that morning to take some BTR Woodworks products to a photographer who is going to stage them and take photos for us. But first we stopped for donuts, and they did not disappoint!
After meeting with the photographer, we drove over to Botanical Heights to pop in La Patisserie Chouquette for the first time! It is seriously the cutest little bakery and I can’t wait to go back. We bought a box of French macarons (a Valentine’s gift for me) and they were so delicious!
We came home from STL and Jude took a long nap and BTR and I watched some tv. Which is something we NEVER do during the day. And it was glorious. When Jude woke up we packed it up and headed up to Alton to visit Old Bakery Beer Company for a late lunch/early dinner.
BTR and I both ordered sandwiches and then shared them, they were sooooo good! And Jude loved his grilled cheese! Old Bakery has such a great vibe and was an awesome place for us to take Jude, we will definitely be going back!
Sunday BTR and Jude woke up early to do some coloring for a card for me and make waffles for breakfast. And I really loved being able to sleep in! For Valentine’s Day I got Jude the Melissa and Doug cookie slicing set since he loves the pizza set we have so much. It was a hit and he has played with it every day since!
It also snowed on Sunday so Addie pretty much had the best day ever.
And while Jude napped, BTR and I played with his birthday gift, an Eye-Fi Wireless SD card for the big camera. After getting the new camera lens we are both pretty much obsessed with using the DSLR for everything. And with this new SD card we can snap photos (beer for BTR and Jude for me) and then send them to our phones immediately without having to connect the camera to the computer. It’s pretty much the coolest thing ever!
And then for Valentine’s Day dinner BTR made my favorite meal of all time, chicken piccata. It is seriously my favorite thing ever and he only makes it a few times a year (like my birthday and Valentine’s day).
BTR was off work on Monday for the holiday and we headed to STL again to pick up some more tools he bought with his grant money. And I’m super excited about one of the tools because now he can build me a few things around the house I’ve been wanting. Not that he really has time for that of course!
And to cap off an amazing weekend, I got to have dinner with three of my faaaavorite STL bloggers at Canyon Cafe on Monday night. Somehow none of us took any pictures so it’s almost like it didn’t happen. I’m ready to plan our next dinner together!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and lovely Valentine’s Day with your loved ones!
